We ventured to Meat Liquor early on a Friday night, the vibe in this place is intense, buzzy, and with Prodigy Smack My Bitch up playing hard when we arrived we dove straight in for a bourbon shot courtesy of our host SAM #WeBlameSam.
This is not your average poncy hipster joint, this place does what is says on the tin – MEAT and LIQUOR. Sweat is not guaranteed but you can turn it up a notch or two with the chill.
Let #SELB tell you how:
Service – The team are happily attentive and know how to mix a good cocktail, it does get busy but they seem to be on the case.
Eats – For starts we dived into the Hobo Beer Cheese (£5.75) Slaw (£3) and the Chilli Fries (£7). For mains we had the Dead Hippie (£8.75) and Cheese Burger (£8). This stuff just melts in your mouth. A sexy cocktail and beer list is also on offer, some cocktails a bit more pricey than others. We couldn’t get enough of the St.Lawrence’s. A Woodford reserve shaken with maple syrup, fresh lemon juice & a dash of bitters with an orange twist.
Looks – Invitingly dark, psychedelic ceiling, tables spot-lit with a red amber glow. The walls are covered in animations, posters and illustrations all combined to give this place a cool edgy vibe in the heart of East Dulwich. We loved it!
Cost for two with starters, main course and drinks approx £60 +
Every now and again – waist-line dependent – one needs to throw caution to the wind. Meat Liquor is definitely the place to leave the week at the door and dive into the weekend. Go on, get messy!
