Backdrop’s Efia & Kessie support South London creative community

London Fashion Week and London Design Week are upon us, and this weekend see’s the launch of South London’s pop-up experience, Backdrop 2013.

Inspired by designer mum Cecile Jeffrey, Backdrop is the brainchild of Efia and Kessie, and brings together South London’s creative community of designer makers, artists, jewellery makers, fashion gurus and creative genii. Developed this summer, Backdrop aims to collaborate with local creatives to support and showcase design talent in the community at pop-up events throughout the year.

This is the very first Backdrop, taking place at Brixton East. This two-storey Victorian building, an ex-furniture factory, has the feel of a lofty New York apartment, an urban space of exposed brick walls, skylights and fairy lights.

Designers on show:
Michael Czerwinski (Camberwell College of Art Graduate: tableware and artist’s books) @maczerwinski
Cecile Jeffrey (knitted fashion)
Illyptic (Streetwear) http://www.illyptic.co.uk
Sam Ubhi (jewellery)
