Fancy doing something different this summer? I’d recommend checking out the Free Film Festivals (http://www.freefilmfestivals.org), and the Herne Hill Free Film Festival showing movies over a six week period.
Last Saturday, me and a few pals ventured down to the Brockwell Lido, Herne Hill to enjoy an open-air film showing of Muriel’s Wedding. We set up camp; seats, popcorn and blankets in tow, and what a great setting it was.
People came from all around to enjoy the movie and take in the great atmosphere. Delicious food was served up by the fantastic team at The Brockwell Lido, from its BBQ hut.
If you’ve never seen Muriel’s Wedding here’s a short short review for you;
‘ABBA-obsessed Muriel fantasizes about escaping her humdrum, small town Australian life and having a fairy-tale white wedding – but her path to the altar turns out to be anything but conventional. In turns both funny and moving, we doubt even the most stone-hearted cynic will leave this screening without a tear in their eye and the tune to Dancing Queen on their lips.’
Needless to say a few of us were singing along to Dancing Queen……..
It was a great atmosphere, people were really enjoying the open space and we were also lucky to experience a beautiful sunset – what a night! Why not email me if you took some photos so I can add them to the ‘Photography’ gallery?
To check our further screenings in your area:
All the Luna events are free to attend, but donations to help fund future events are very welcome.Look out for collection buckets at screenings.
I’d recommend taking pillows, seats, blankets and maybe a spare hat or two, as you know how these balmy British evenings can get a bit chilly.
‘The Grade II-listed Art Deco building is managed in partnership with Fusion Lifestyle, a registered charity, and provides health and fitness facilities year round.’
